Leave of Absence
If you need extended time away for your own health or to care for a family member, here’s how leave works.
The Family and Medical Leave Act gives eligible employees up to 12 work weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year. Littelfuse’s own leave policies sit alongside it, and short-term disability may replace part of your pay while you’re out.
Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
You may be eligible for up to 12 work weeks of unpaid leave per year. FMLA can be used for an illness of your own, care needed for a family member, care for a newborn, and certain other medical needs.
Eligibility
To take FMLA leave you must meet all of the following:
- You have worked for Littelfuse for a minimum of 12 months
- You have worked at least 1,250 hours during the 12-month period immediately before the leave begins
The applicable 12-month period is a rolling period measured backward from the date FMLA leave is taken.
How leave and pay fit together
Short-term disability may replace part of your income during a medical leave — 100% of eligible pay for weeks 2–6 for illness, or weeks 1–6 for injury, then 75% through week 26. Visit Disability.
Parental leave is separate and fully paid for up to six weeks. Visit Parental Leave.
Paid time off may be used to cover the seven-day short-term disability waiting period. Visit Paid Time Off.
